Leadership at Appalachian State
As part of the Department of Student Engagement and Leadership, the Lee H. McCaskey Center in the Plemmons Student Union offers leadership development resources for Appalachian State students, staff, faculty, and the community. Some people define leadership in the context of holding an office within an organization or simply by being an engaged, active member. Others believe leadership occurs in the classroom while participating in class discussions or group work. In fact, leadership happens all over campus in a variety of settings.
Students can receive a Minor in Leadership Studies by completing 18 hours in leadership and related courses, or become involved with any one of the over 400 on-campus clubs and organizations. The Department of Student Engagement and Leadership also hosts multiple seminars and retreats throughout the year. Call (828) 262-6252 or visit us in suite 244 of the Student Union to find out how you can become a better leader!
